push ups
[info]suomifrikki is attempting to do 100 push ups. I think it's a good challenge. I will try too and post my progress. Today I did 25. It was rather difficult. My arms are thin and weak like flex-straws.

I've been thinking about joining her in the 100 push-up challenge. Especially since, like her, I can't do a single push-up.

When I was in in high school, I used to get truly excruciating back pain. I have a damn high pain tolerance, and I was still reduced to tears. I saw several doctors and physical therapists who could do nothing for me, and then finally it turned out that my upper body strength was so lacking that I couldn't support my own UPPER BODY.

Yeah.

there are a lot of ways to modify the push ups to make them doable. this seems like an awesome program because it is so adjustable to your current ability.

Jess and I have been doing them for the last couple weeks (I guess Jess is on hold for the moment, she's been struck down by flu pretty bad).

I just did week 3, day 1 - my exhaustion test just pushed me into the hardest category, and for the first time I failed to reach the "at least" on level 5.

But, I was up 8 pushups on my second exhaustion test! (26 total) which is sweet progress for me.

I also began this this week. With the breaks I could do about 30. The weird thing is that my elbows are the most sore part now. I wonder if I broke something.

Sounds a lot what I do in the mornings using my bureau to support myself - I strained some tendons in my elbow while weight lifting and can currently do only do wussy pushups.

interesting.

i like measuring push-ups to compare strength than, say, bench press weight. everyone is of different size and build, but pushups are a relative measure. on the other hand, bench press is at an absolute scale.

as for myself, 58 pushups.
